SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata perithecial, 200-300 µm diam., globose to pyriform, scattered, immersed with an erumpent ostiolar region. Peridium 10-20 µm thick in the basal part, composed of pale thin-walled cells, in the apical part ca 30 µm thick and composed of thick-walled, heavily pigmented cells. Ostiolar region usually laterally compressed, ca 100 µm tall and up to 150 µm in length, oval to slit-shaped in outline , lined with hyaline periphyses. Interascal tissue composed of numerous, branched and septate pseudoparaphyses. Asci 100-140 x 15-20 µm, clavate, short-stalked, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 33-50 x 6-9.5 µm, fusiform, slightly curved, young spores hyaline to yellowish and smooth-walled, often becoming brown and verruculose after discharge; thick-walled, with 8-12 septa (mostly 11-septate), significantly constricted at all septa, the cell immediately above the primary septum inflated; at least in some collections surrounded by a thick mucous sheath.
