This page documents notable finds of species of fungi and lichens that have occurred during the lifetime of the Lost & Found project. These may have been collected since the beginning of the programme, or new records based on re-examination of older specimens.

11 Feb. 2015 Caloplaca arenaria A fairly widespread western and northern maritime/montane lichen species, found on the N coast of Jersey and new for the Channel Isles. Paul Cannon (Kew) Paul Cannon K
11 Feb. 2015 Mollisia subglobosa A further record for this Top 100 species, found associated with Nectria punicea var. ilicis on fallen holly logs in VC45 Pembrokeshire. 12 Feb. 2015 Hydropunctaria amphibia A quite common black lichen in intertidal regions, mainly in western areas; found on the SW coast of Jersey and the first record for the Channel Isles. Paul Cannon (Kew) Paul Cannon  
13 Feb. 2015 Xanthoparmelia tinctina A southern lichen, rarely encountered except in its GB&I stronghold of the Channel Isles. Refound on the same rock in SW Jersey as was reported by the BLS in 2001. Paul Cannon (Kew) Paul Cannon  
15 Feb. 2015 Roseodiscus formosus A small pink inoperculate discomycete growing on the moss Ceratodon purpureus, from VC9 Dorset. First confirmed GB&I record, although an earlier collection from Pembrokeshire cited in FRDBI may be misidentified. Bryan Edwards (Dorset) Brian Douglas K
15 Feb. 2015 Catillaria fungoides An inconspicous lichen with minute black fruits, on nutrient-rich Fraxinus bark, VC30 Bedfordshire. New to GB&I. Mark Powell (Bedfordshire) Mark Powell E
16 Feb. 2015 Encoelia carpini A Top 100 Target species, collected on dead attached Carpinus branches on the Sussey/Sussex borders in Oct. 2014. The only other recent collections were from Hertfordshire in 2004 and from Kent in the early 1970s. Nick Aplin (Sussex) Zotto Baral K

18 Feb. 2015 Cryptadelphia obovata A minute pyrenomycete found on a dead Salix twig, collected in VC1 W Cornwall in Nov. 2013; new to GB&I but possibly misidentified in the past as C. groenendalensis. Ken Preston-Mafham (Cornwall) Paul Cannon K
