Granules 50-150 µm diam., squamules flattened, crenate to sub-fingerlike, 150-300 µm wide, weakly corticate. Prothallus whitish, cottony, sometimes obscured in thick thalli. Photobiont trebousioid, with cells 9-15 μm diam.
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.3-1.5 mm diam., often absent, convex, often clustered or tuberculate, often fissured, pale orange- to deep red-brown. Thalline exciple absent. True exciple inconspicuous except in some young apothecia, concolorous with or paler than the disc, hyaline or red-brownish in section. Hymenium 20-30 μm tall, hyaline or tinged red to brownish above. Hypothecium 200-230 μm tall, hyaline or red brownish in parts, of gelatinized, interwoven, narrow hyphae. Interascal tissue of mostly unbranched paraphyses 2-3 μm diam., the apical cell ± tapered, surrounded by a mucous coat. Asci 20-26 × 7-9 μm, clavate, Bacidia-type, 8-spored. Ascospores (7-) 10-13 (-15) × 2-3 (-4) μm, narrowly ellipsoid to shortly fusiform, aseptate or narrowly 1(-3)-septate, hyaline, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
