Diaporthe ilicina (All Fungi)
General description:
Description contributed by Graham Kinsey, CABI, based on Wehmeyer (1933).
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata with entostromatic areas sharply but irregularly outlined, rather extensive, bark surface blackened only around the ostioles which appear as discolored spots on the surface, ventral zone within the wood. Ascomata 400-440 x 240-280 µm, scattered singly or in small groups of 2-3. Ascospores 12-15 x 2.5-4 µm.
Wehmeyer considered this to belong within the D. pardalota aggregate.
Associations:
On dead branches of Ilex.
Distribution:
From England (West Gloucs, South Hants, Mid West Yorks), Wales (Monts) and possibly Scotland (North Ebudes).
