SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, scattered or in small clusters, 250-400 µm diam. and 300-400 µm tall, ± conical; black, opening at the apex by an irregular gaping pore to ca 50 µm diam. Peridium black, with patches of completely occluded tissue around the ostiole separated by paler radially arranged dark brown thick-walled elongate cells, apparently fracturing along these lines of weakness when the ascoma is over-mature; lower part of peridium lacking these patches. Interascal tissue of pseudoparaphyses, persistent, branched and anastomosing, cellular, ca 2 µm diam. Asci 130-170 x 22-28 µm, ± cylindrical to elongate-clavate, thick-walled and fissitunicate, with a small internal apical beak, not turning blue with iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 21-25.5 x 11.5-13 µm, clavate-ellipsoidal, swollen above and tending to taper towards the base, 3-septate, constricted at the septa, dark brown, minutely and evenly verruculose (ornamentation within the wall layers), without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
