SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata initially cleistothecial and globose to barrel-shaped, remaining so in some species but in others becoming apothecial and shallowly cupulate. Peridium pale yellow, thin, composed of ± thick–walled polygonal cells, with sparse pale yellowish thick-walled aseptate or septate setae arising from the upper part. Interascal tissue of sparse to abundant paraphyses, not or slightly enlarged at the apex, simple or branched at some level, septate, containing pale yellow vacuoles. Asci one to numerous, clavate to cylindric-clavate, short-stalked to almost sessile, ± thick-walled but not fissitunicate, either with a rounded, operculate apex or opening with an irregular split, not blueing in iodine, 8- or multispored. Ascospores ellipsoidal with roundish poles, aseptate, smooth, hyaline, usually thick-walled, with one nucleus and yellowish contents, with de Bary bubbles in some species, lacking a gelatinous sheath or perispore.
