SUMMARY
Stromata absent.
Ascomata perithecia, 360-420 x 240-325 µm, often densely aggregated, ± superficial, obpyriform, glabrous or sparsely covered with flexuous hyaline hairs; neck cylindrical, papillate, 120-240 µm long and ca 100 µm diam. Peridium membranaceous, ± opaque, brown below, blackish in the neck region, the outer cells angular to rounded. Interascal tissue not seen, the neck lined with periphyses. Asci (155-) 170-215 x 14-17 µm, cylindrical, short-stalked, with a truncate apex ca 9 µm diam. with an apical ring 3.5-4 µm diam. and ca 2 µm thick, not blueing in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged obliquely uniseriately, (17-) 18-24 x (9.5-) 10-13 µm, ± ellipsoidal to slightly ovoid, often slightly inequilateral, rounded above, sometimes slightly apiculate below, aseptate, dark brown, smooth-walled, with a basal germ pore, surrounded by a broad gelatinous sheath except for an invagination around the germ pore.
