SUMMARY
Anamorph: Diplodina microsperma (Johnston) B. Sutton. Conidiomata to 1 mm diam. Conidiophores to 20 µm long x 3-6 µm, sometimes doliform and around 8 x 6 µm in size. Conidia 15-24 x 2.5-5 µm, fusiform, sometimes inaequilateral, usually 1-septate, hyaline, thin-walled.
Teleomorph: Stromata as numerous minute papillate swellings, with a slight greyish ectostromatic cushion, containing 1-4 ascomata. Ascomata (160–)200–330 μm high × (340–)370–400(–500) μm diam, black, subglobose. Neck (95–)150–200(–310) μm long, (60–)80–85(–95) μm diam at base, (55–)75–85(–90) μm diam at apex, cylindrical, eccentric to lateral, periphysate. Peridium 25-35 µm thick. Asci (40–)52–59(–63) × (11–)13–14(–15) μm, cylindric to clavate, with an apical ring 2.0–3.5 μm diam, with eight ascospores arranged obliquely parallel or irregularly seriate. Ascospores (14–)17–20(–27) × 3–4(–5) μm, l/w ratio (3.2–)5.2–6.6(–8.7), ellipsoidal-elongate, slightly tapering towards the rounded ends, 1-septate, often with short appendages 1.5–2 μm in length, slightly constricted at the median to submedian septum, with granular cytoplasm.
