SUMMARY
Spermogonia epiphyllous, 45-90 µm diam., 30-35 µm high, few, in groups surrounded by the aecidia, inconspicuous, conical, yellow.
Aecia epiphyllous, in annular groups, pulvinate, orange-yellow fading to pale yellow with peripheral incurved clavate paraphyses 40-70 µm long and 14-18 µm broad, with uniformly thin walls. Aeciospores 16-24 x 14-18 µm, globose or broadly ellipsoidal,
the wall pale yellow, 1·5- 2·5 µm thick, sparsely echinulate.
Uredinia hypophyllous, very small, 100-200 µm diam., scattered, pale orange, surrounded by numerous incurved thin-walled, clavate paraphyses, 40-70 µm long, the apex 14-24 µm broad. Uredospores 18-25 x 14-18 µm, broadly ellipsoidal, yellow, the wall 1·5-2·5 µm thick, sparsely echinulate, pores obscure.
Telia hypophyllous, very small, 300-700 µm diam., black. Teliospores 80-135 x 28-35 µm, cylindrical, 6- to 10-celled (mostly 7- to 8-celled), rounded below, tapering at the apex to a hyaline apiculus, 3-13 µm long, chocolate brown, coarsely verrucose, the wall 5- 6µm thick with 3 pores in each cell, the pedicel 80-120 µm long, hyaline except at the apex, swelling in water to lanceolate and 14-27 µm broad in the lower part.
Basidia 4-celled, basidiospores 4-6 µm diam., subglobose.
