SUMMARY
Thallus continuous, in small patches, white to yellow-white, rough to slightly and irregularly warted, rarely smooth; prothallus, when evident, white, not fimbriate.
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.5-1.2 (-2.5) mm diam., sessile, somewhat constricted at the base, often densely crowded. Thalline exciple well-developed, persistent, entire or sometimes flexuose, raised, medulla densely packed with small irregular crystals not dissolving in K. Disc orange, red-orange or red-brown, sometimes white-pruinose when young. Epithecium red-brown, not granular, covered with a thin gelatinous layer. Hymenium 65-80 μm tall. Interascal tissue of paraphyses 1.5-2.5 μm diam., simple to sparsely branched, rarely anastomosed, the apices 2.5-4 μm diam., yellow-brown, slightly swollen. Ascospores (11-) 12-15 (-17) × (4.5-) 6.5-8.5 (-9.5) μm, broadly ellipsoidal, hyaline, aseptate, fairly thick-walled, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Chemistry: thallus C–, K+ indistinctly yellow or K–, Pd–, UV+ pale orange (atranorin, ± chloratranorin, 0-3 unidentified triterpenoids).
