SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, at first cupulate, at maturity becoming discoid, the margin curved to reflexed, sessile, 2-6.5 cm diam. Disc at first violet brown, at maturity wrinkled, reddish brown to dark brown. Exciple glabrous to finely pubescent, brownish yellow, with an outer layer of large angular cells, and an inner layer of globose cells interwoven with broad hyphae. Hymenium 250-300 µm high. Interascal tissue of paraphyses, straight, curved or strongly bent, ca 5 µm diam., slightly enlarged to ca 7.5 µm at the apex, with yellowish brown granular contents, staining red-brown in Melzer's reagent. Asci 225-270 x 12.5-15 µm, cylindrical, gradually narrowing below, staining intensely blue in Melzer's reagent, 8-spored. Ascospores uniseriately arranged, 13.5-17 x 8-9.5 µm, ellipsoidal, colourless, with numerous small guttules, ornamented with dense low warts.
