SUMMARY
Thallus of contiguous areoles or more dispersed squamules ca 0.5 mm diam., flat to flexuose, the margin splitting to form soralia that may eventually cover much of the surface. Soredia (20-) 25-50 (-55) μm diam., lemon yellow to pale orange, usually paler than the thallus.
Anamorph: conidiomata pycnidia, the conidia 2-3.5 (-4) x 1-1.5 µm, bacilliform.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia often infrequent, 0.3-0.8 mm diam., adnate, the disc plane to slightly convex, yellow-orange (deeper yellow than the thallus), the thalline margin rarely sorediate. Epithecium with numerous yellow-brown crystals. Hymenium 65-80 µm thick, hyaline. Hypothecium hyaline. Interascal tissue of paraphyses broadening to ca 7 μm at the tip. Asci clavate, 8-spored. Ascospores (9-) 10.5-13 (-14) × (4.5-) 5-7 μm., polarilocular, the septum 2.5-4 (-5) μm thick (ca 40% of the spore length), hyaline, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Chemistry: all parts K+ purple.
