SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata to 350 µm diam. and 470 µm tall, globose to pyriform, brown to black, superficial. Ostiole 17 -25 µm diam., papillate, lined with numerous periphyses. Setae sparse, 30-45 x 2-4 µm, sometimes curved, dark brown, septate. Peridium 15-20 µm thick, with an outer layer of brown thick-walled angular cells to 6 µm diam. and an inner layer with 3-4 rows of flattened, almost hyaline cells. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 45-90 x 12-18 µm, ellipsoidal to clavate, the apical part very thick-walled, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 12-28 x 6-8 µm, ellipsoidal, fusiform-ellipsoidal or clavate, 3- to 4-septate, sometimes with an additional oblique septum, pale grey-brown, smooth and thin-walled, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
