SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 170-200 µm diam., pyriform, ± superficial, scattered or in small clusters on the host thallus and outer parts of apothecia. Peridium olivaceous to dark brown, 10-20 µm thick at the base, thicker around the ostiole, strongly melanized in patches (mostly in the cell walls), composed of an outer layer of dark flattened cells and an inner paler layer. Interascal tissue of narrow thin-walled branched and anastomosed pseudoparaphyses, sometimes ± evanescent at maturity. Asci 76-85 (-90) x 12.5-14.8 µm, cylindrical, short-stalked, fissitunicate with a conspicuous ocular chamber, the apex rounded, not blueing in iodine, (4-) 6- or 8-spored. Ascospores (13.5-) 14.3-15.9 x 6.0-8.5 µm, [(13-) 14-21 (-22) x 5-7 µm fide Grube & Hafellner 1990], ovoid, hardly constricted at the submedian septum, hyaline, thin- and smooth-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
