SUMMARY
Mycelium: hyphae dark, radiating, extending into a thin stroma beneath the cuticle, often not visible from the surface.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascostromata perithecia, to 150 µm diam., subcuticular, hemispherical, black, shiny, ostiolate, smooth, without setae. Peridium of a few layers of pseudoparechymatic cells. Interascal tissue of pseudoparaphyses, cellular, septate, branched, often ± evanescent at maturity. Asci 22-42 x 9-15 µm, ovoid to saccate, often with a somewhat attenuate upper part, fissitunicate, 8-spored. Ascospores 10-14 x 4-6 µm, pale greenish to olivaceous, ellipsoidal to ovoid, straight to slightly inaequilateral, septate in the lower third, smooth to finely roughened, with broadly rounded ends.
