SUMMARY
Thallus: absent.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata stalked, 0.7-1.1 mm high, black, with a lenticular to hemispherical fertile head 180-300 µm diam. Stalk 40-80 µm diam., black, composed of an outer layer of dark brown periclinally arranged hyphae 1-2 µm diam. and an inner greenish brown core. Peridium of the fertile head poorly developed, 8-10 µm thick, yellowish to greenish brown, composed of 4-5 layers of periclinally arranged hyphae. Hypothecium 90-110 µm high, olivaceous to dark brown, epithecium reddish brown. Asci developing within a sparse network of anastomosing paraphysis-like hyphae, 35-41 x 2.5-3.5 µm, cylindrical, persistent, very thin-walled but with a thickened apex with a narrow canal present in immature asci, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged uniseriately, (4.5-) 5-6 x 2-2.5 µm, ellipsoidal, smoky brown, thin-walled, with a median septum that is thicker and more strongly pigmented than the outer wall, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Chemistry: K and N negative, or only slightly intensifying in colour.
