SUMMARY
Stromata: absent.
Ascomata: 400-550 µm diam, pyriform, the body globose, semi-immersed, covered with flexuous brown mycelial hairs, the neck tapering, conic-cylindrical, to 330 x 200 µm, periphysate, ± glabrous. Peridium membanaceous, composed of three layers; the outer of pale brown irregular rather thin-walled textura angularis with cells to 10 µm diam, the innermost layer composed of ± hyaline flattened cells. Interascal tissue composed of short wide paraphyses. Asci 260-340 x 38-50 µm, clavate to cylindric-clavate with a long tapering stalk, fairly thin-walled at all stages, the apex truncate with a J- apical ring to 3.5 µm diam, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 36-44 x 20-23 µm, ellipsoidal, dark brown and thick-walled, smooth, aseptate, with apical and basal germ pores, and apical and basal elongate gelatinous appendages 50-80 x 608 µm in size, rounded in seciton with an indistinct central canal, sometimes weakly transversely striate.
