Burgellopsis nivea
Colonies appearing as dispersed bulbils overgrowing lichen thalli. Mycelium not observed. Bulbils 100–220 µm diam., roundish to broadly ellipsoidal or rarely irregular in form, superficial, white, without hairs, the surface roughened with individual convex cells just visible, slightly shiny. Cells in surface view mainly 8–15 µm diam., polyhedral, smooth. Internal tissue composed of indistinctly catenate cells 8–15 µm diam., ± globose to ellipsoidal or polyhedral. Clamp connections not observed. Cells in lactophenol cotton blue without emerging oil droplets, no crystals visible in polarized light.
Basidiomata and conidiomata unknown.
Growing over an unidentified sterile, sorediate lichen, apparently not causing damage to the host.
Known from a single locality in VC82 E Lothian.
