Stegonsporium protopyriforme
General description:
Morphologically indistinguishable from S. pyriforme, but with consistent differences in molecular sequence.
Conservation status:
Unknown; the species is only known from a botanic garden and could be introduced.
Associations:
Reported from dead attached branches of Acer pseudoplatanus.
Distribution:
In GB&I, only recorded from VC78 Peeblesshire.
Trophic strategy:
Probably a weak parasite, but data are lacking.
