Stegonsporium pseudopyriforme
General description:
Morphologically indistinguishable from S. pyriforme, but on different host trees and with consistent differences in molecular sequence.
Conservation status:
In GB&I, only known from RBG Kew and probably introduced, but the species is known from the native A. pseudoplatanus and could therefore have a wider distribution.
Associations:
In GB&I, recorded from dead attached branches of Acer heldreichii and A. velutinum.
Distribution:
In GB&I, only known from Surrey. Also known from Austria and Slovenia.
Trophic strategy:
Presumably a weak parasite, but the relevant data have not been gathered.
