Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata thyriothecia, 100-150 µm diam and 75-100 µm tall, strongly convex, black, the margin entire. Upper wall one cell thick, composed of radially arranged quadrangular cells 4-6.5 µm diam. Ostiole central, not or hardly raised, surrounded by convergent setae forming an elongated cone. Setae 23-35 x 4-7 µm, dark brown, aseptate, smooth-walled. Lower wall one cell thick, composed of brownish quadrangular cells. Interascal tissue of poorly developed paraphysis-like hyphae 1.5-2.5 µm diam. Asci 60-75 x 12-14.5 µm, obclavate to ± cylindrical, 8-spored. Ascospores (14.5-) 16-17 x 5-5.5 µm (15.5-18 x 4.9-5.5 µm in GB&I material), hyaline, slightly constricted at the single ± median septum, smooth, the upper cell with three pairs of lateral flexuous hair-like setae inserted together near the septum, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Lichenicolous, apparently parasitic on thalli of Parmeliella triptophylla but causing no obvious damage to the host lichen. Known elsewhere from other Parmeliella and Psoroma species.
In GB&I, reported from N Ireland (Fermanagh). Previously known only from Papua New Guinea.
