Description: 

Sclerococcum parasiticum, hymenium mounted in Lugol's iodine after pre-treatment in K. In practice it is difficult to observe the nature of the ascus tip in iodine becuase the hymenium and outer coat of the asci react strongly. The ascus tips in Sclerococcum lack an amyloid tholus but have an outer amyloid coat.
