Protoblastenia lilacina, hymenium mounted in K, showing the lack of a strong K+ purple reaction (just a few epithecial granules appear red). Sections of look-alike species such as P. rupestris exhibit a very strong K+ purple reaction with purple solution bleeding profusely out of the epithecium.
