Enchylium polycarpon, section of thallus (thalline margin) stained with ink-vinegar, showing the lack of a cellular cortex (typical also of the genus Collema). The lumina of the fungal hyphae are stained blue, while the Nostoc photobiont is seen as dark green chains of rounded cells.
