Description: 

Verrucaria squamulosa, collected from crevice of a retaining wall, Southend-on-Sea, Powell 3229. This specimen has overlapping squamules. A section has been cut from a central part of the specimen pictured; this revealed a globose pycnidium containing bacilliform conidia.
