Description:

Flavoplaca limonia, blastidia in a microscope preparation after staining. In the upper part of the image connected blastidia form a shape somewhat resembling a 'Michelin Man' with outstretched arms. This sort of structure is quite often seen in blastidiate species such as F. limonia and Lecania erysibe. The structure is formed by the units budding from their neighbours.
