SUMMARY
Anamorph: conidiomata absent. Mycelium arising in the upper part of the hymenium of apothecia of the host lichens, infected fruit-bodies becoming heavily discoloured black. Hyphae 3-6 µm diam., septate, smooth-walled, pale brown, proliferating 12-20 µm below the surface of the epithecium to form irregularly penicillate short brown conidiogenous areas. Conidiogenous cells 4-5 µm diam. and 5-6 µm tall, terminal, determinate, broadly cylindrical to ampulliform, with a short apical collarette ca 1 µm tall, brown and faintly verrucose, producing single conidia and apparently not proliferating. Conidia 3.5-6 µm diam., globose, dark brown, aseptate, with coarsely verrucose walls, without a gelatinous sheath or epispore.
Teleomorph: not known.
