SUMMARY
Thallus thin, white, pale grey or pink-grey, rarely pale green, smooth or rugose, continuous or ± rimose, never distinctly effigurate at the edge, the areoles mostly contiguous or sometimes scattered. Prothallus ± present, white.
Anamorph: no information available.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.2-0.8 mm diam., rose-pink to red-brown, often almost black when dry, erumpent from inside the thallus. Thalline exciple thin, white, smooth to crenate, forming a halo-like rim, at least when young. Ascospores 15-25 × 7-13 μm, ellipsoidal to ovoid, sometimes inaequilateral, aseptate, hyaline, smooth- and thin-walled, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
Chemistry: thallus C+ red, K–, KC+ red, Pd–, UV+ whitish (gyrophoric acid).
