Anamorph: not known. Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 90-190 µm diam., at first subglobose but discoid or pulvinate at maturity, sessile, yellow to pale olive-brown, smooth, without marginal hairs. Exciple composed of undifferentiated thin-walled ± globose cells 3-15 µm diam, subhymenium of small angular cells. Interascal tissue of copious well-developed paraphyses 1.5-2 µm diam, the apices inflated to 6-7 µm diam., the cytoplasm containing bright yellow carotenoid pigments. Asci numerous, 53-60 x 9-13 µm [62-80 x 11-15 µm fide Doveri 2004], clavate to cylindric-clavate, with a short to long tapering stalk, the apex rounded, operculate, not staining in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged obliquely uniseriately or biseriately, 7-8 x 4-4.5 µm [7.6-8.9 x 3.5-4.2 µm fide Doveri 2004], ellipsoidal to slightly ovoid, sometimes slightly asymmetrical, aseptate, hyaline, thick- and smooth-walled, without an epispore or gelatinous sheath.
