SUMMARY
Colonies effuse, dark brown to blackish, velvety. Mycelium mostly internal, the hyphae hyaline to pale brown, emerging through the epidermis and stomata. Stromata absent or rudimentary, setae and hyphopodia absent.
Anamorph: conidiomata absent. Conidiophores arising from the tips of emerging hyphae, scattered or in groups, often hardly differentiated, short, pale olivaceous brown, smooth. Conidiogenous cells terminal or intercalary, polyblastic, clavate to doliiform. Conidia 25-45 (to 120) µm long, dry, single or catenate, mostly much branched, multiseptate, often strongly constricted at the septa, fairly thick-walled, pale to olivaceous brown, often paler at the tips, smooth.
Teleomorph: not known.
