Stylodothis puccinioides  

Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata to 0.8 (-1.2) mm diam, multilocular, usually with no more than about eight locules, circular to slightly irregular from above, surface convex, black, smooth, scattered to gregarious, erumpent from beneath bark, composed of polyhedral brown-walled cells becoming rounded and darker at the exposed surface but paler and slightly compressed immediately below the locules. Ascomatal locules within the stroma, without conspicuous ostioles, to ca 200 µm diam, arranged as a single layer 3-5 rows of cells beneath the surface. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 60-70 x 12-13 µm, cylindric-clavate, ± sessile, thick-walled, with a foot-shaped base, J-, 4-spored, arising in a fascicle from a basal cushion. Ascospores 17-28 x 8-11 µm, raher irregular in shape but usually narrowly ellipsoidal to ovoid, brown, usually finely roughened at maturity, thick-walled, 1-septate, constricted at the septum, one cell larger than the other.
