SUMMARY
Mycelium abundant, superficial, reticulate, composed of brown septate hyphae 2-3 µm diam., paler and slightly swollen in the stomatal cavities, hyaline and thinner in the leaf tissue of the host.
Anamorph: conidiomata similar to but larger than the ascomata, to 400 µm diam. Conidia 4.5-7 x 1-1.5 µm, hyaline, aseptate.
Teleomorph: ascomata thyriothecia, round, discrete, scattered, 130-170 µm diam., the margin irregular but not fimbriate. Peridium composed of irregularly arranged, branched and lobed elongate cells, smaller and darker around the ostiole which is 5-8 µm diam., the vegetative mycelium overgrowing the ascomata. Interascal tissue of pseudoparaphyses, evanescent at an early stage. Asci 16-26 x 4-6 µm, cylindrical to obclavate, thick-walled and fissitunicate, 8-spored. Ascospores usually biseriately arranged, 6-8 x 1-1.5 µm, narrowly ellipsoidal, 1-septate with the septum slightly below the middle of the spore, hyaline, smooth.
