SUMMARY
Anamorph: as for the native S. pyriforme, but conidia (32–)37–44(–51) x (18–)19–22(–23.5) µm, pyriform to cylindrical, with (3–)4–5(–6) transverse distosepta and 1 or rarely 2 longitudinal distosepta in 2–4 cells, dark brown, cell lumina ellipsoidal to globose, with a gelatinous sheath ca 2 µm diam. at base and 1 µm diam. at the apex.
Teleomorph: as for the native S. pyriforme, but stromata 0.9–3.6mm diam. Ostioles invisible on the bark surface, fusing in the ectostromatic disc. Ascomata perithecia, (210–)250–400(–450) µm diam., (200–)230–300(–340) µm high. Paraphyses 4–5 µm diam., collapsing. Asci 230–360 x (26–)30–38(–42) µm, cylindrical or narrowly clavate, the apex containing a narrowly refractive ring, 8-spored. Ascospores initially arranged biseriately but sometimes becoming obliquely uniseriate, (41–)45–51(–56) x (17–)19–22(–25) µm, ellipsoidal, medium to dark brown, with (3–)5 distosepta and 1 oblique or longitudinal distoseptum in 1 to several cells in ca 90 % of ascospores; with a short subglobose to irregular gelatinous appendage at each end, (3.5–)5–7(–8.5) µm long and (11–)12–14.5(–16) µm diam.
