Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 150-240µm diam, black, ± globose, the neck hardly papillate, immersed in the substrate. Peridium coriaceous, composed of an outer layer of thick-walled angular cells to 9µm diam, and inner layers of less strongly pigmented tissue. Interascal tissue well-developed, composed of narrow branched and anastomosed pseudoparaphyses. Asci 148-164 x 33-37 µm, cylindric-clavate, the stalk to ca 18µm in length, usually abruptly defined, thick-walled and fissitunicate, the apex rounded with a distinct ocular chamber, not staining in iodine, 8-spored.
