SUMMARY
Anamorph. Not known.
Teleomorph. Stromata poorly developed, the ascomata developing in compact clusters within the bark tissues within a sparse hyphal mat-like tomentum. Ascomata 550–1000 µm diam, 300–550 µm high, oblate, the base applanate, strongly erumpent and visible from the surface as conspicuous black domes with an inconspicuous central ostiole. Peridium 65–100 µm thick, 10–20 µm at the base, composed of several layers of dark brown thick-walled pseudoparenchymatous tissue with cells 5–15 µm diam. Interascal tissue composed of narrow thin-walled persistent cellular pseudoparaphyses 1.5–3 µm diam. Asci 100–180 × 44–60 µm, broadly clavate, the apex obtuse to rounded, the wall strongly thickened, fissitunicate, 8-spored. Ascospores 48–60 (–65) × (15.5–) 18–24 µm with a single submedian septum, straight or inaequilateral, obovoid-cylindrical, the apex obtuse and the base acute, dark brown to almost black with a conspicuous transverse hyaline band in the wall of the lower cell, the wall smooth or foveolate, with a conspicuous gelatinous sheath 2–6 µm thick that is constricted at the septum.
