SUMMARY
Superficial hyphae 4-6 µm diam., in an irregular network, frequently branched and anastomosed, dark brown to almost black, with some cells verrucose.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecial, 60-80 µm diam., ± globose with a slightly conical apex, black, superficial. Peridium dark brown, 1-2 cells thick, composed of thick-walled angular cells. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 20-25 x 12-16 µm, saccate to pyriform, thick-walled and fissitunicate, not staining in iodine, (6-) 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 9-13 x 3-5 µm, ellipsoidal to clavate-ellipsoidal, hyaline, slightly constricted at the ± median septum, the upper cell hardly wider than the lower cell, with a thin epispore/gelatinous sheath visible in fresh material.
