Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, immersed under a thin blackened clypeate stromatic layer 500-800 µm diam., with a central hardly erumpent papilla, sometimes surrounded by a narrow collar; 450-650 µm diam. and 300-400 µm high, subglobose to oblate, with a rounded base and a cylindrical neck 200-250 µm tall and 80-130 µm diam. Clypeus comprising host cells filled with brown intercellular hyphae. Peridium 30-50 µm thick, hardly pigmented. Interascal tissue composed of thin-walled unbranched paraphyses 3-4 µm diam., embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 180-195 x 9.5-11 µm, cylindrical, fairly thin-walled, not fissitunicate, long-stalked, the apex rounded, with a J+, truncate-conical subapical ring, 4-4.5 µm diam. at the base, 2.5-3 µm diam. at the apex and , 3.5-4 µm high, 8-spored. Ascospores uniseriately or partially biseriately arranged, (25-) 27-30.5 x 6-7 µm, fusiform, the ends obtuse, dark brown at maturity, two-celled, very slightly constricted at the ± median septum, smooth-walled, with a germ slit in each cell that extends from the end to ± half-way down the cell, with a thin gelatinous sheath surrounding the ascospores, without apical gelatinous appendages.
