SUMMARY
Thallus: crustose, mostly immersed. Photobiont Trentepohlia.
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata mazaedial, stalked. Stalk short to long, pale or reddish brown. True exciple well-developed, forming a distinct collar at base, the lower part of the collar ± extended and enclosing stalk, mazaedial head globose to obconical. Asci cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, short-stalked, with a single functional wall layer, evanescent at an early stage, not staining in iodine, formed singly from ascogenous hyphae with croziers. Ascospores globose, hyaline or pale yellow, smooth or minutely warted in LM, accumulating in a conspicuous pale mass.
Chemistry: apothecia may have pruina containing ?anthraquinone (K+ violet).
