SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, 0.3-0.5 mm diam., superficial, scattered, discoid, marginate, black, disk plane to slightly concave at first, becoming slightly convex when mature; exciple composed of reddish-brown isodiametric cells. Epithecium pale brown, ca 10 µm thick; hymenium 40-55 µm thick, hyaline, blue to red in iodine (depending on concentration); hypothecium 10-20 µm thick, brown. Interascal tissue of sparsely branched paraphyses 1.5-2 µm diam., septate, conglutinate, somewhat clavate at the apices. Asci (35-) 40-48 x (9-) 12-15 µm, elongate-clavate, thick-walled (probably fissitunicate), apex lacking a well-developed apical dome but capped by a distinct thick K/I+ blue outer gelatinized layer, 8-spored. Ascospores irregularly arranged in the asci, 11-14 (-17) x 4.5-6 µm, ellipsoidal to clavate with rounded ends, 1-septate, hardly constricted at the usually supramedian septum, brown to olivaceous, strongly verrucose, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
