SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, becoming ± superficial, 250-400 µm diam. [measured when dry], the margin very thick, strongly cream-pruinose, involute, not strongly fissured, the disc deeply urceolate, dark brown. Margin abundantly crystalliferous on the exterior, the crystals small and uniform, hyaline, copious yellow pigment released in KOH. Periphysoidal layer composed of ± isodiametric cells, the innermost row elongate, with free ends. Paraphyses numerous, filiform, ca 1 µm diam., 1-2 times branched with the apices not swollen or with irregular branching at the extreme tips (propoloid), not staining in iodine. Asci 95-110 x 10-12 µm, thick-walled when young, gradually tapering towards the apex, the cap 2.5-4 µm thick, pierced by a narrow pore, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged in a single fascicle, usually at least partially helically coiled, 47-56 x 2.5-3 µm, filiform, multiseptate, the individual cells 4.3-6.5 (-9) µm long, hyaline, smooth-walled.
