SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata stipitate apothecia, to 25 (-50) mm tall, the stipe 5-35 mm long and 0.5-2 mm broad, cylindrical, somewhat scurfy, greyish brown to yellow-brown, paler towards the base. Apothecia 2-6 (-8) mm diam. and 1.5-4 mm tall, globose or subglobose, chestnut to dark brown. Hymenium 80-90 µm tall, pale brown due to pigmentation of the paraphyses, the subhymenium very broad, composed of intertwined hyphae, with a brown epithecial layer. Paraphyses 2-2.5 µm diam., the apices hardly swollen, curved or hooked, the cells brown-walled. Asci 78-96 (-120) x 9-10 µm, narrowly clavate with a long tapering stalk, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, the apex obtuse with a distinct ring that blues in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 23-32 (-37) x 3-3.5 µm, narrowly clavate-cylindrical, hyaline, sometimes slightly curved, the apex rounded and the base tapered and ± acute, thin- and smooth-walled, aseptate or rarely 1-septate, the contents very lipid-rich, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
