SUMMARY
Spermogonia and aecia unknown.
Uredinia mostly hypophyllous, abundant, scattered, 300-900 µm diam., ± circular, surrounded by the ruptured epidermis, pulverulent, chestnut-brown. Urediniospores 16-24 x 21-30 µm, globose to ellipsoidal or slightly obovoid, the wall pale chestnut-brown, 1.5-2.5 µm thick, shortly echinulate, with 2 (-3) equatorial germ pores.
Telia usually hypophyllous, usually sparse and present only at the end of the season, on pale spots with the host tissue becoming desiccated, scattered or confluent, 500-1000 µm diam., circular, surrounded by the ruptured epidermis, pulvinate, blackish brown. Teliospores 36-54 x 17-26 µm, cylindrical to ellipsoidal, the base obtuse, the apex rounded to truncate, slightly constricted at the ± median septum and narrowed below, the wall 1.5-2.5 µm thick laterally, to 12 µm thick at the apex, smooth. Pedicel subhyaline, ± equal in length to the spore, persistent.
