Family: NectriaceaeGenus: Pseudocosmospora
SUMMARY
Anamorph: Acremonium-like. Conidiophores generally simple, unbranched. Conidiogenous cells 40–65 µm long, width at base 2.5–3 µm, width at tip 1–1.5 µm, cylindrical, collarette hardly flared, hyaline, proliferating percurrently from a single apical locus. Conidia 4–5.5 x 2.3–3 µm, cylindric-ellipsoidal to broadly ovoid, aseptate, smooth, hyaline, thin-walled, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 250–350 x 240–300 µm, solitary, superficial, subglobose to pyriform, collapsing laterally when dry, scarlet, smooth-walled. Interascal tissue absent at maturity. Asci 45–60 x 7–8.5 µm, cylindrical to slightly clavate, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged obliquely uniseriately, 9–11.5 x 4–5.5 (-6) µm, ellipsoidal, slightly constricted at the single median to slightly submedian septum, smooth, pale brown at maturity, thick-walled, strongly rugulose, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
