SUMMARY
Anamorph: Acremonium-like, only seen in culture.
Teleomorph: Stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 100-200 µm diam, subglobose, immersed in the thallus and with the ostiolar region erumpent through the cortex, scattered or in small groups, not setose, dark pinkish red in the ostiolar region when young, becoming dark reddish brown when mature, the immersed part of the peridium much paler, not changing colour in KOH, yellow in lactic acid. Peridium ca 20 µm thick, composed of thick-walled angular to rounded cells that may appear epidermoid when viewed from the outside, the inner region ca 10 µm thick, composed of thin-walled elongate angular cells. Asci clavate, 32-50 x 6. 5-10 µm, almost sessile, very thin-walled, not fissitunicate, the apex rounded and without an apical ring, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged biseriately, 14-20 (-22) x 4.5-6.5 µm, clavate-ellipsoidal, strongly constricted at the usually slightly submedian septum, the upper cell usually distinctly broader, sometimes curved, hyaline, smooth or inconspicuously verrucose, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
