SUMMARY
Thallus discontinuous to continuous, 3-30 mm diam., 100-200 (-300) µm thick; areoles 100-300 µm diam., convex, round to irregular, usually completely transformed into soredia. Soredia (25–) 30–50 (–60) µm, grey, yellow-grey, greenish grey, greenish yellow, pale yellow to yellow, usually thin and loose without cracks. Prothallus not observed. Cortex poorly developed.
Anamorph: conidiomata pycnidia, sometimes present, immersed, orange-yellow. Conidia 2·5–3 (–3·5) x 1·2–1·5 µm, broadly ellipsoidal.
Teleomorph: ascomata apothecia, usually present but scattered, 0·3–0·8 (–1·7) mm diam., sessile to slightly raised, round to irregular. Disc initially slightly concave, later plane to convex, yellow to orange-yellow, often with a thin white pruina. Proper margin 25–50 (–60) µm thick, paler than the disc, consisting of irregularly radiating, thick-walled hyphae. Thalline margin 0–75 (–125) µm thick, uneven to sorediate, concolorous with the thallus. Epithecium yellowish orange, inspersed with granules. Hymenium 55–80 µm thick, hyaline. Hypothecium 25–65 µm thick, hyaline. Interascal tissue of paraphyses, usually simple, sometimes branched once, 1·5–2·5 µm diam. with the upper cells wider, up to 7µm diam. Asci 45–58x 10–12 µm, clavate, 8-spored. Ascospores (9–) 10–13 (–13·5) x (4–) 4·5–6·0 (–7·5) µm, polaribilocular, ellipsoidal, the septum (2·5–) 3–4 (–4.5) µm wide, hyaline, smooth, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
