SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 250-400 µm diam., oblate (sometimes strongly flattened), black, thin-walled, the body immersed in the substratum and with a central, ± vertical protruding neck 400-650 µm diam. and 30-70 µm diam., which may be curved or bent, or flattened in a dry state. Peridium 20-50 µm thick, thicker transversally, composed of 5-7 layers of dark thick-walled cells 4-5 µm diam., the neck cells elongate. Interascal tissue not reported. Asci 30-40 x 6-10 µm, obovoid to ellipsoidal, with a refactive apical ring to ca 2 µm diam., 8-spored. Ascospores biseriate to fasciculate, 13-18 x 1.5-2.5 µm, narrowly fusiform, straight or curved, hardly constricted at the ± central septum, hyaline, thin-walled, the cells containing numerous oil droplets, with a short filiform appendage at one or other, or both ends.
