SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata absent. Ascomata perithecia, 250-350 µm diam., subepidermal, becoming erumpent, scattered or rarely confluent, globose or slightly subglobose, with a conspicuous short protruding papillate neck to ca 60 µm in length and diam. Peridium pale brown, dark brown in the ostiolar region, composed of 2-3 layers of pale brown thin-walled angular cells. Interascal tissue composed of very thin-walled unbranched paraphyses 3-4 µm diam., slightly tapering towards the apex. Asci 126-138 x 7-8 µm, cylindrical, the stalk fairly short and gradually tapering, slightly attenuated towards the apex, the apex rounded to truncate, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, with a conspicuous refractive apical ring ca 2.5 µm diam. and 2 µm thick, not staining in iodine, 8-spored. Ascospores arranged uniseriately, sometimes slightly oblique, 14-16.5 x 4.5-5.5 µm, ellipsoidal with rounded to truncate ends, hyaline, aseptate, rather thin-walled, striate, biguttulate when alive, without an epispore, gelatinous sheath or appendages.
