SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, 90-130 µm diam., superficial, solitary or in large clusters, dark brown to black, spherical when fully hydrated, strongly collapsing when dry and then appearing cupulate, covered with tapering black pointed setae (50-) 65-95 µm long, 7-9 µm diam. at the base. Peridium composed of dark brown angular to epidermoid compressed cells, cells of the inner layer lighter, setae arising from outer cells of the peridium. Ostiole guarded by ± hyaline, cylindrical periphyses ca 1 µm in diam. and 14-18 µm in length. lnterascal tissue absent, with apical paraphyses merging with the periphyses. Asci mostly evanescent in the collection seen, 30-37 x 7-9 µm, cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, the apex rounded to slightly truncate, the base drawn into a very short stalk, apical structures not seen, 8-spored. Ascospores obliquely uniseriate to biseriate, 6.5-9 x 2-2.5 (-3) µm, ellipsoidal to fusiform-ellipsoidal, slightly constricted at the ± median septum, hyaline, thin- and smooth-walled, perispore, gelatinous sheath and appendages not seen.
