SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: ascomata perithecia, scattered or in small groups, (150-) 200-300 (-350) µm diam, subglobose when hydrated but collapsing centrally when dry to appear cupuliform or toroidal, ostiolate, the peridium pinkish, dark red around the ostiole, the colour largely obscured by a tomentum of glistening white peridial hairs. Hairs to 70 (-95) µm long and 2-4 (-5) µm diam, unbranched, septate especially in the lower part, uneven in diameter and often swollen and braodly clavate at the apices, ± smooth-walled below but finely warted above. Ascomatal wall to 30 µm thick, composed of 3-4 layers of thin-walled compressed pseudoparenchymatous tissue, the cells 7-8 x 5.5-7 µm in size. Interascal tissue absent. Asci 48-63 x 7-9 µm, cylindric-clavate, thin-walled, not fissitunicate, lacking any visible apical structures, 8-spored. Ascospores 14-18 (-22.5) x 5.5-8 µm (slightly wider in KOH), broadly ellipsoidal, the ends rounded, hyaline, smooth, with a single ± median septum.
