SUMMARY
Anamorph: not known.
Teleomorph: stromata developing in clusters of up to 20 on yellowish-brown spots on the host leaf, 400-500 µm diam., subglobose, occupying the entire depth of the host leaf and forming a raised pustule on both sides, blackened, composed of a layer 50-100 µm thick of dark thick-walled angular cells surrounding a single ascoma. Ascomata perithecia, 250-350 µm diam., globose, blackish, neck straight or slightly curved and reaching 400 µm long and 80-100 µm diam., immersed in the stroma with the neck emergent on the lower surface of the host leaf. Peridium 25-40 µm thick, composed of around 3 layers of slightly compressed cells, neck wall composed of elongate cells. Interascal tissue absent, but neck periphysate. Asci 30-40 x 8-9 µm, narrowly ellipsoidal, with a single discernable wall layer, with an iodine-negative refractive apical ring, 8-spored, becoming detatched within the perithecial cavity. Ascospores 7-8.5 x 3.5-4.5 µm, ellipsoidal, hyaline, aseptate, containing some small guttules, without a gelatinous sheath or appendages.
